Bella Online - Soy Wax
We have many concerns about soy wax , the least of it being the huge carbon
footprint of soy wax. It requires a lot of energy to grow and process the
soybeans, let alone process the oil into the " wax ". Not to mention all
the chemicals sprayed on the soybean crop. Another concern we have is the use
of a food source for non food use like bio-diesel and/or candles disrupting
the food supply for an ever hungry planet. More often than not " soy wax "
candles are scented and coloured with synthetic chemicals that when burned
emit noxious fumes. The catalyst (nickel) used to solidify the oil is a known
carcinogen. Often " soy wax " candles are made in jars that restrict air flow
when burned giving off as soot, and contaminating the air you breathe. The jars
are necessary due to the low melting point of " soy wax " , even lower than
paraffin wax, which results in a faster burning candle.
" Honeybees , soy wax and Veganism "
Vegans do not use beeswax candles since their beliefs won't allow them to use
anything that has been grown or made due to the exploitation of animals. Instead
they choose candles made with soy wax even though soybean farmers use honeybees
to pollinate their soybean crops to increase yields.

Beeswax is one of the only naturalling occuring waxes in the world,
is a renewable resource that requires very little energy to harvest
and prepare for candle making, and is the hardest wax with the highest
melting point which results in a brighter , hotter , cleaner burning
flame. After doing the research we hope that you will agree that
beeswax is by far the best wax to make candles with.
